A poorly operating bathroom was creating a negative effect on how it was functioning for Tyrone and Veronica. This 120-square-foot bathroom in Atlanta, GA had problems which needed to be addressed. A leaking, moldy shower stall and a large unused jacuzzi tub were the impetus for this bathroom renovation. The lack of storage in the long narrow double vanity with oversized frameless mirror created yet another problem.

Our immediate attention focused on replacing the large double window above the jacuzzi tub with a long narrow 6-foot window. Because the jacuzzi tub was rarely used my clients wanted to remove it; instead, they wanted a 9-foot his and hers double shower. We decided to modify the vanity with a custom-built double vanity with an attached tall linen closet. The linen closet inside the bathroom was then turned it into a shoe closet. There is a lack of storage space in the owner’s suite closet, so we decided to convert the linen closet into a shoe closet.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   


Luxe Up My Bedroom Please!

My client hired Interiors by Natasha to redesign her master bedroom, sitting room and master bathroom. She was enthusiastic about having us create a peaceful and glamorous room for her to sleep and lounge in. The scope of the project was as follows: with the exception to the master bed, we purchased new furniture, new bedding, dressers, nightstands, chandeliers, sofa, rugs, mirror and accessories. We also decided to install wallpaper on the walls as a focal point in the room.

The challenges we faced with this project was making sure we designed a room that had some luxe, glitz and glam. We had to design the space around the bed that my client purchased prior to starting the design process. The color scheme within the room included gray, blush, and cream. The other challenge we faced was creating a room around the glam style without over doing it. Although my client was fine with glam, she did not want to much of it represented in the room. I believe we were able to redesign her space creating a luxe atmosphere for her to sleep and lounge in.


Kitchen With A Splash of Color!

This house was a new purchase for my clients. I was entrusted with the task to make this 1980’s kitchen into a beautiful chef’s kitchen. The challenge with this kitchen renovation was making sure that I gave my client, a kitchen that a pastry chef would be proud to bake in. Because she is a pastry chef, the original space was not functional for her. It was dark, dated and did not have enough storage. The cabinets were an old traditional expresso finish, small electric drop-in cooktop, and double wall oven with florescent ceiling light fixtures. I wanted to make sure that I capitalized on the square footage in the kitchen and gave them a more Contemporary Style. 

The first thing, I had to address was the damaged floor. One of the selling points to the house for my clients was the hardwood floors but, a portion of the floor in the kitchen was rotted by years of water decay. We replaced the hardwood floors that were damaged and refinished them. The second, was to open the entryway between the kitchen and dining room and swapping the refrigerator and the pantry. The contractor demoed the kitchen changing the position of the original pantry and the refrigerator. By doing this, provided more floor space for my clients to walk through. The third, was to address the dark cabinet finish. We went with two-tone color cabinetry. The wall and base cabinets are white and the island is a gray finish. As a pastry chef, I had to make sure my client had enough countertop/prep and storage space. The fourth, was very important to her which was replacing the drop-in electric cooktop with a freestanding professional gas range. After addressing these four concerns, my clients are very pleased with the renovation. Happy clients!

Kitchen Facelift Anyone!

My clients wanted a kitchen where they could gather together, prepare meals, and catch up on the latest news of the day. They had two children that wanted a space to do homework while grabbing a snack to eat. The scope of the project included a facelift for the cabinets, new dining table, chairs, countertop, backsplash, island, flooring, appliances, installing a range hood, lighting and barstools. My challenge was designing a kitchen that was functional, efficient and aesthetically pleasing while addressing the specific needs of my clients.

We had a good foundation to work with but, the original kitchen was dated and needed an upgrade. We addressed the cabinets, floors, island and lighting first. We wanted to keep with the overall floorplan of the kitchen. The color palette we choose was a cool gray color scheme with warm wood accents. The custom island is a one-of-a-kind feature with an exotic granite slab. The island provides the best way to maximize the kitchen efficiency and storage capacity.

Technology was also important addition in the kitchen so we installed smart technology and USB cable outlets. Lighting was another factor—under the counter lighting and in cabinet lighting was installed. In the end, my clients were very happy with the kitchen we designed for them.

Reclaim Your Walls!

This open floor plan family room for a family of four—two adults and two children was a dream to design. I wanted to create harmony and unity in the space bringing the outdoors in. My clients wanted a space that they could, lounge, watch TV, play board games and entertain guest in. They had two requests: one—comfortable and two—inviting. They are a family that loves sports and spending time with each other. 

One of the challenges I tackled first was the 22 feet ceiling height and wall of windows. I decided to give this room a Contemporary Rustic Style. Using scale and proportion to identify the inadequacy between the height of the built-in and fireplace in comparison to the wall height was the next thing to tackle. Creating a focal point in the room created balance in the room. The addition of the reclaimed wood on the wall and furniture helped achieve harmony and unity between the elements in the room combined makes a balanced, harmonious complete space. 

Bringing the outdoors in and using repetition of design elements like color throughout the room, texture in the accent pillows, rug, furniture and accessories and shape and form was how I achieved harmony. I gave my clients a space to entertain, lounge, and have fun in that reflected their lifestyle. 


Relaxing Retreat!

An oasis away from home, Zen and relaxation was the theme we were going for with this guest bedroom. My clients wanted the guest room to have a hotel feel. This bedroom was a blank slate of unfinished walls revealing the studs, floors and open ceiling in my client’s basement. A monochromatic color story, neutral palette, harmonious and tranquil theme flows throughout the space.

Using varying tints and shades of gray to achieve dimension was the foundation for designing this guest room. Creating a room that was not only a place to sleep but also functioned for multiple purposes was something my clients and I discussed during the consultation. It was imperative that we design a space for sleeping, lounging, watching television, reading, writing, and computer browsing. Because the space was not defined when we started we had to redefine the room—closing the walls, ceiling and floors. Creating a floor plan, ceiling treatment, furniture plan and layout was our mission the rest came together seamlessly. 

My clients were not only happy with their new guest room but also enjoyed the experience. Now they have a place to entertain their guest overnight in comfort.


Teenage Girls Just Want To Have Fun!

I was hired by the parents of a soon-to-be teenage girl turning 13 years-old. They wanted to remodel her bedroom from a young girls room to a teenage room. This project was a joy and a dream to work on! I got the opportunity to channel my inner child. I wanted to design a space that she would love to sleep in, entertain, hangout, do homework, and lounge in. 
The first step was to interview her so that she would feel like she was a part of the process and the decision making. I asked her what was her favorite color, what was her favorite print, her favorite hobbies, if there was anything in her room she wanted to keep, and her style.
The second step was to go shopping with her and once that process started she was thrilled. One of the challenges for me was making sure I was able to give her everything she wanted. The other challenge was incorporating her favorite pattern-- zebra print. I decided to bring it into the room in small accent pieces where it was previously the dominant pattern throughout her room. The color palette went from light pink to her favorite color teal with pops of fuchsia. I wanted to make the ceiling a part of the design so I painted it a deep teal and added a beautiful teal glass and crystal chandelier to highlight it. Her room became a private oasis away from her parents where she could escape to. In the end we gave her everything she wanted.

Some of the challenges I faced while designing this dining room were changing the color scheme from a warm red color palette to a cool gray color palette. I also wanted to contrast the dark mahogany dining table with the floors. I decided to have light Australian Cypress hardwoods installed in the dining room to off-set the dark dining table. The sequoia coffee table provides a focal point in the room, as well as create a contemporary feel. The mirror on the wall and the linear chandelier provides the illusion of space. I was able to give the homeowners an elegant and inviting space that they can entertain family and friends in.
